Welcome to the Coeur d'Alene Sailing Club
The Coeur d'Alene Sailing Club (CdA Sailing Club) was founded to promote the sport of sailing, build a community of passionate sailors, and encourage responsible stewardship of Coeur d'Alene Lake. After over 20 years, sailboat racing made a triumphant return to Coeur d'Alene Lake last summer. Our club was established to continue the momentum and foster camaraderie among sailors of all levels.
We primarily sail the Melges 15, a high-performance, two-person dinghy that has quickly gained popularity since its launch in 2020. The Melges 15 was named Sailing World's "Boat of the Year" thanks to its exceptional design and thrilling performance. With over 900 units sold, it's become a top choice for racers and recreational sailors alike.
The Melges 15 Fleet
Our club currently consists of four members, and we're excited to see the fleet grow as more owners join the club. Melges 15 boats are perfect for racing on Coeur d'Alene Lake's consistent 8-10 knot breezes. Our Sunday morning races from April through October offer an excellent opportunity for sailors of all experience levels to hone their skills and connect with the sailing community.
Racing and Community
The sailing conditions on Sunday mornings are ideal for racing, thanks to the steady southerly winds and low boat traffic. Additionally, we’re joined by the Gonzaga Sailing Club in spring and fall for some friendly competition, bringing their fleet of International 420s.
Upcoming Events
The highlight of our season is the annual CdA Sailing Club Regatta, which will take place on May 17-18. Sailors from across the region will gather to race on the beautiful Coeur d'Alene Lake. Whether you're a seasoned racer or a novice, there's a place for you at our events.
